These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Examine the Scriptures mobile application (the "App") published by Still Standing Studios, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App is an interactive Bible study application, available as a mobile app and as a web version. It presents written studies that you read and respond to in your own words, with tappable Scripture references and built-in Bible translations. The studies are original works prepared by the author (and also published at ChurchOfChristBibleStudies.com) and are provided for personal and congregational study.
The App is intended for a general audience of adult Bible students and teachers. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to use the App or create an account. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the authority to accept these Terms.
You can use the App fully without an account. If you wish, you may create an optional account — through Google, Apple, or an email address and password — so that your study work syncs across your devices, including the web version. Creating an account is never required and unlocks no additional content.
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. You may delete your account and its synced data at any time from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete account). Study work stored only on your device is not synced; because it is stored locally, clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App will permanently remove it, and we cannot recover it for you. Our handling of account information and synced work is described in our Privacy Policy.
The complete student experience is free. The App offers an optional Teacher Edition subscription (monthly or yearly, auto-renewing) that unlocks the teacher's guide for studies and additional licensed Bible translations. The App also offers optional one-time tips that support the ministry. Tips are a gift and do not unlock any features. Current pricing is shown inside the App before you confirm a purchase.
All purchases are processed by Google Play (on Android devices) or, where available, the Apple App Store (on iOS devices). Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The renewal charge is billed to the payment method on file with the store.
You can cancel a subscription at any time through your Google Play or Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then. We do not have the ability to cancel store-billed subscriptions on your behalf.
Refunds are governed by the policies of the store that processed the payment. To request a refund, contact Google Play support or Apple's "Report a Problem" page. Except where required by law, we do not issue refunds outside the store's refund process. Tips are non-refundable except as required by the store or by applicable law.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, to access the web version, and to use the studies for your personal study and within your congregation or class. You may export or print a study, including your own answers, for personal or classroom use. You may not republish, redistribute, or resell the studies, the teacher's guides, or any portion of the App.

The studies, teacher's guides, text, graphics, icons, and other materials in the App are owned by Still Standing Studios, LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The American Standard Version and World English Bible translations are in the public domain. The NASB 2020, New King James Version, and Christian Standard Bible translations are provided under license through API.Bible (a service of the American Bible Society) and remain the property of their respective copyright holders. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
The App uses Google Firebase (for delivering study content and, for signed-in users, authentication and sync), Google Play Billing, API.Bible (for licensed translations available to Teacher Edition subscribers), and, where available, Apple's sign-in and billing services. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
The App and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that the content will meet your requirements.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Still Standing Studios, LLC or its members be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US $50.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Still Standing Studios, LLC from and against any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms or use the App in a way that risks harm to us or other users. You may stop using the App at any time. Sections 5 (final sentence), 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15 survive termination.
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we will post the updated version at this URL, update the "Effective date" above, and where appropriate notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Richland County, South Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. This section does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protections under the law of your country of residence.
